BEIJING FLICKERS: A Beijing Tradition

Could this beautiful, refined woman have a potty mouth?

Beijing is a city with its own particular culture, in particular it has a strong tradition of eloquent swearing, jing ma, one that Chinese authorities wanted to crack down on before the 2008 Olympics.

There's a tradition of crowd cursing, demonstrated in this video of the crowd swearing at a soccer team with, "Sha bi," the most Beijing of curses.

And it appears that despite official efforts, the tradition is spreading as Shanghai soccer fans chant back at Beijing fans at a 2012 soccer game.

Blogger Massage Milk, aka, Wang Xiaofeng  wrote a defense of Beijing's tradition and was intereviewed by the Danwei Hard Hat TV Show.
